The Judge Workplace:
A Design Thinking
Case StudyJudges are the cornerstone of the Justice system in any country but little has been done for them to bring in helpful technology. In a short talk I will explain how our field research was conducted as well as how we converted the research into ideas, and ideas into a wireframe, and finally how the whole concept of the Judge workplace was presented to the Judges and ultimately to the Minister of Justice himself. The results of applying design thinking methods to such a complex environment as the Justice System were quite surprising!

Pedro Janeiro (Novabase)

Windows Phone:
Personal, Relevant and Connected Mobile DesignWindows Phone 7 brings a fresh approach to user interface design for smartphones. In this session we'll discuss the principles behind "Metro", the codename for the Windows Phone design system, and how this system creates a differentiated brand and user experience.

Kat Holmes (Microsoft)

Talking UX Books
with Louis RosenfeldJoin Rosenfeld Media publisher Lou Rosenfeld (author of Information Architecture for the World Wide Web and Search Analytics for your Site) for an informal discussion of UX-related books. Any and all UX book-related topics will be fair game for discussion, including:
  • What are your favorite (and least favorite) books? And why?
  • What UX topics do you want to see addressed by future books?
  • How can books themselves be designed to offer a better user experience?
  • Do books still have relevance for UX practitioners? Are there better alternatives?
  • Bring along questions, ideas, and books for show-and-tell.
To thank you for participating, Rosenfeld Media will raffle off some copies of our books and share a very deep, temporary discount code with participants.

Touch the future, and get 100ms ahead of the crowd…Within the last two years the growth of the smart phone and tablet market has extensively proliferated. We will present two studies where we combined classical usability measurements e.g. thinking aloud, with direct action related measurement like eye tracking.
